Biography
German Generalmajor during World War II and Rommel's Chief of Staff, awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. Gause also took part in World War I, and was awarded the Iron Cross, both Second and First Class.
Alfred Gause was captured by Soviet troops in 1945 and was a prisoner of the Soviets until his release in 1955. He died on 30 September 1967, aged 71, in Bonn. His brother was historian Fritz Gause.
