Biography
German actress who married noted physician and microbiologist Robert Koch on 13 September 1893 when she was a twenty-one-year-old art student. He was twenty-eight years older than her, and had divorced his first wife Emmy Koch earlier that year after 26 years of marriage. Unlike Emmy, Hedwig gladly accompanied Koch on his numerous trips abroad.
On 27 May 1910, Koch died in Baden-Baden at the age of 66. Hedwig died on 16 June 1945, aged 72.
