Biography
British astronomer; the first Astronomer Royal of England, appointed 3/04/1674-1675 and also the Director of Greenwich Observatory. He made the accurate observations of the moon which helped Newton formulate the laws of gravitation. His appointment was an honor, with the title Astronomer Royal chosen from among the most famous British scientists.
Flamsteed died on 31 December 1719 in Greenwich, England.
