Biography
American lighting designer, regarded as the creator of lighting design for the theatre (Broadway shows, opera and ballet), and the country's leading consultant in architectural and urban lighting.
He died on 24 April 1997 at age 88 in Manhattan, New York. The lights at Rockefeller Center and the Empire State Building were turned off for one hour on the night of 28 April 1997 in his honour.
