Biography
French lawyer and politician, the assistant delegate at the Nurnberg trials in 1945. He served as French Premier for a short time, 1952 and 1955. A law professor from 1962-1966, he then served on various government appointments. In a career that spanned three decades, he had 11 Cabinet Posts. Faure was considered the mastermind of sweeping educational programs born out of the 1968 student protests. A member of the French Academy, he composed music and among his multiple languages, spoke fluent Russian. He was the author of works on history and politics plus detective novels written under a pseudonym.
Faure died of apoplexy on 30 March 1988, 7:45 AM, Paris.
