Biography
French actor and director of stage and screen.
Duard began his acting career at the Théâtre de l'Odéon in Jeu de l'amour (29 August 1885). After 11 years spent at the Odéon, he became a resident of the Théâtre impérial Michel in Saint Petersburg in 1896 and remained there until 1902, when he returned to Paris, first at the Théâtre de la Porte Saint Martin, then At the Théâtre Sarah Bernhard until 1906. He returned to the Théâtre de l'Odéon between 1906 and 1908 (under the direction of Paul Ginisty and André Antoine) and then became stage director at the Théâtre de la Renaissance until the Occupation in 1914.
In 1915, he returned to the Theater de l'Odéon where he was appointed director of classical studies by Firmin Gémier.
Émile Duard was married to Émilienne Dux (her real name was Fanny Deux), a member of the Comédie-Française, with whom he had a child, Paul Colline (pseudonym of Paul Louis Élisé Duard).
He died on 13 January 1941 in Paris.
