Biography
Kenyan-born wildlife filmmaker and conservationist, she grew up amidst the family passion for wild animals. Her father was noted zoologist Iain Douglas-Hamilton who became an expert on elephants and co-wrote books about the noble beasts with his equally impassioned wife..Saba and her sister grew up knowing the animals well and after college in England, she landed a job in the natural history unit of BBC. She began studying chimpanzees and made a documentary about their life in the wild. She then began filming wild cats which resulted in "Big Cat Diary" in 2002, followed by a series on elephants, "Elephants of Samburu." In 2004 she and her sister produced "Heart of a Lioness." Her dad founded the organization "Save the Elephants" and she manages it. She and her husband Frank Pope married in 2006.
