Biography
French doctor and politician, and an internationally renowned gynecologist. He worked with Louis Pasteur (1822-1895) from 1878 to 1881, and between 1883 and 1898 held the post of chief Of service to the hospitals La Pitie, Boucicaut, and Saint-Antoine. During the period from 1898 to 1919, one of his duties as a professor was to lecture at the Boucicaut and Saint-Antoine hospitals.
As a pupil of Pasteur, Doléris devoted himself mainly to the study of the microbiology of puerperal infections, septicemia and erysipelas. Later he concentrated his efforts in gynecology (operation of Doléris of retroversion-flexion).
He died, aged 85, on 18 January 1938 in Pau, Pyrénées-Atlantiques.
