Biography
German art director who designed the sets for more than a hundred films during his career. He realized his first artistically challenging work in early 1913: Der Student von Prag (The student from Prague) became the most famous work of his entire career. Three years later Dietrich undertook another excursion into the fantastic cinema with the six-part Homunculus, a story directed by Otto Rippert about the creation of an artificial human being.
He died on 8 September 1947, aged 58, in Berlin, Germany.
