Jean Devaivre (name of author and director; resistance Brennus and Janus, during the struggle against the Nazi occupation) is a French filmmaker and resistant 1912
Director fifteen feature films and 40 short films, he is also author of 35 original scripts and over 120 adaptations and dubbing. He received the Golden Sail - Grand Prix of the Locarno International Film Festival in 1949 for The Farm of the seven sins film about the assassination of pamphleteer Paul Louis Courier.
In 1934, at age 21, after studying the fine arts (architecture) and the Arts and Crafts, he began his film career as assistant decorator and then as a designer at the French Company of cinematography, along with Francis Cosne ( in), which will become a film producer himself.

Between 1945 and the late 1960s, Jean realizes Devaivre 15 feature films, including The King free riders (1945), The Lady of eleven (1947), The Farm of the seven sins (1948) Vendetta en Camargue (1949 ), the Unknown of Montreal (1950), one Touch of Caroline Sweetheart (1952), Caroline and the Rebels (1954) and alert in the South (1953) adventure film whose shoot was himself a great adventure with Erich von Stroheim, sort of James Bond before the letter, which will take four years the head of the box office.
