Biography
American pro baseball pitcher.
He pitched in the All-Star Games of 1988 and 1989 for the National League. After attending Chabot College in CA., he was picked up on the 21st round of free-agent draft pick with the N.Y. Mets, did not sign with them and was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies organization 1/09/1979.
Placed on the disabled list for 1981-1982, he was traded to the San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres, Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, back to the Philadelphia Phillies and as of 1/11/1998 was playing in the AAA League for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Davis was named the Eastern League Most Valuable Player in 1980, National League Pitcher of the Year by "The Sporting News" in 1989 and named the National League Cy Young Award winner also in 1989. At 6' 4", 215 lbs, throws left, bats left and has played in the American League for four years and the National League for 12 years as of 1998.
