Biography
American pro baseball pitcher.
After attending Grayson County College in Texas, he was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Texas Rangers 5/10/1976. Darwin has played for the Milwaukee Brewers, Kansas City Royals, Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago White Sox and his latest contract was with the San Francisco Giants 12/06/1997.
Due to injuries, he was placed on the disabled list 1977, 1980, 1983, 1991, 1994 and was suspended for a week in August 1996.
Statistically Darwin has pitched one 4-1 one-hit, complete-game victory and three 5-0 one-hit, complete-game victories, but has also tied the A.L. in 34 home runs allowed in 1985. At 6' 3", 200 lbs., he throws right, bats right and has played for the American League for 15 years and the National League for seven years.
Darwin also has appeared in four games as a pinch-runner and his younger brother Jeff is also a pro baseball pitcher.
