Biography
British experimental medical subject who was given a blood transfusion from a sheep on 11/23/1667. Educated at Cambridge, Coga spoke Latin well but was considered "freakish and extravagant - cracked a little in his head - a poor and debauched man - that his brain was sometimes a little too warm." Though he was listed as indigent, he was only given 20 shillings for allowing the first-time experiment. In the presence of four or five physicians, Dr. King at Arundel House transferred about 12 ounces of sheep's blood, without causing any harm, indeed, saying that he felt better.
