Biography
American poet and writer of Mexican and Greek ancestry, who served as the 2013-2014 Texas Poet Laureate, becoming the first Latina named to the State post. Her poems are widely published in high school and college textbooks and numerous literary magazines. Her work has twice been collected in the annual Best American Poetry anthology and has earned fellowships.
