American best-selling writer who began to write and illustrate from age 10. By her teens she was doing musical scores, poetry, sculpting and painting, In 1918 she married William Coombes and they had one daughter. She completed her B.A. in 1931 and made a second marriage the same year to Marcus Reback; they also had one daughter.
Her first published book was written in a collaboration, "Dynasty of Death," 1938. This was followed by many popular best-sellers including "This Side of Innocence," 1946, "The Devil's Advocate," 1952 and "Dear and Glorious Physician," 1969.
Caldwell died 9/08/1985, Greenwich, CT.
