Biography
French naturalist, historian of religions and philosopher, who was ordained a Buddhist monk in the Zen tradition and wrote several books on the subject. In 1987, he obtained the Grand Prize of Literature from the Académie française for his entire body of work which has been translated into ten languages. He died on 3 January 2008, aged 85.
