Australia's first set of quintuplets, two boys and three girls born to Mary Patricia "Pat" Braham, aged 36, and her husband, Roger Braham, a solicitor, from Tenterfield, New South Wales. The babies were born on Brisbane's hottest December day in 56 years, the temperature outside the hospital peaking that afternoon at 40C (104F). In birth order they were Annabel Dorothy, Richard Gibson, Faith Elizabeth, Caroline, and Geoffrey Raymond. Geoffrey died at 4 days old; the others are still living.
