Norwegian professor of Indo-European linguistics. He made significant contributions to the scientific study of Scottish Gaelic and Irish. 1932-1935 he was a lecturer at Trinity College in Dublin. 1936-1937 he was a substitute professor at the University of Ankara. Professor at the University of Oslo from 1947.
He was the son of composer Hjalmar Borgstrøm.
Borgstrøm died on 14 September 1986. He was 76.
