Biography
American game show host, Bergeron began his career as a disc jockey for a hometown radio station. At the same time, he was an editorial cartoonist for several local newspapers. Focus on him increased in 1980, after the debut of
I"The Tom Bergeron Show," which he created and hosted. This late-night comedy talk program earned high ratings. Two years later, he joined a larger media station in Boston, WBZ-TV, and began hosting several television programs. By 1987 he was the anchor of WBZ-TV's Emmy Award-winning daily show, "People Are Talking."
In 1993, FX network made him host of "Breakfast Time" for FX; by 1996 the show had gone from cable TV to network TV, on the Fox channel, renamed "Fox After Breakfast." In 1998 he undertook his most celebrated hosting duties, as the charming host of
"Hollywood Squares. " He was awarded an Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host. Occasionally he is fill-in anchor on ABC's "Good Morning America," and on CBS' "The Early Show." In 2005 he hosted the wildly successful dance contest "Dancing with the Stars."
He and his wife have two daughters.
