Biography
French general.
He was a Captain in Indochina during World War II, where he was captured and tortured by the Japanese in 1945.
During the Algerian war he served as colonel and later as brigadier general. On his return to France, he was assigned to the High Commissioner for Atomic Energy. Promoted to major general in 1962, he was employed as an inspector of artillery.
Appointed Lieutenant General in 1965, he reached the rank of army general in 1968. He was Secretary General of National Defence from 1970 to 1973.
He died on 16 January 2000.
