French soldier in World War I, who served with the 280th Infantry Regiment of Narbonne as a corporal and with the 296th and the 248th Infantry Regiments. For four years he fought in the most dangerous sectors of the front: Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, Verdun, the Somme and the Chemin des Dames.
He wrote of his wartime experiences in the book "Les carnets de guerre de Louis Barthas, tonnelier, 1914-1918" (Paris: Éditions François Maspero, 1977).
He died on 4 May 1952 in Peyriac-Minervois, France.
