Biography
Dutch physician and psychiatrist.
Barnhoorn was the only child of the Gerardus Barnhoorn (1866-1930) en Wijnanda Beuk (1870-1936) who married on 31 July 1894 at Leiden.
He studied medicine and became the chief of the Catholic psychiatric hospital Sint Willibrord at Heiloo (opened 1928). He was interested in social medicine and wrote several books about ethical dilemma's like forced sterilization (Het vraagstuk der onvruchtbaarmaking, 1936).
In 1958 he became a member of the advisory board Gezondheidsraad.

He married Maria Margaretha Dijkman (b.1896) on 28 October 1924 at Amsterdam.
