Biography
French film director of the silent era.
He began his career as a secretary of Charles Pathé, then became an actor and assistant for the directors Ferdinand Zecca and Gaston Velle.
Between 1908 and 1928 he made films with biblical or historical subjects, including David and Goliath (1910), The Judgment of Solomon (1912) with Berthe Bovy, and Les Enfants d'Edouard (1913). His films with "popular" themes included L'Homme qui assassina (1913), Les Cinq Sous de Lavarède (1913), and L'Autre Aile (1924), with Charles Vanel.
He died at 4 AM on 30 April 1936 in Paris.
