Biography
Dutch expressionist painter and cofounder of De Ploeg (English: The Plough or The Group), an artist collective from the city of Groningen in the Netherlands. Established in 1918 by a group of young artists including Altink, their goal was to create new opportunities for exhibitions and to educate the general public about developments in art, architecture, and literature.
Auction house Christie's described Altink as being "widely regarded as the purest 'Groninger' of all Ploeg artists."
Altink died, aged 86, in Groningen on 6 December 1971.
